A warm welcome

Top of our wish list when we started renovating the Hermit was a log fire. In the cold winter months we wanted to give people a real reason to walk up the hill from Burley - and what better reason than an amazing pint with friends by a cosy fire.

Initially we were told there was nowhere for it to go, but as we removed the wood chip wallpaper near the old electric fire, chunks of old plaster started to fall away and we soon discovered a huge stone chimney breast. An excited call to the Stove and Fireplace Studio followed and today we can reveal our new wood burner in the Hermit’s snug.

It’s still a bit warm to fire it up, certainly when we test lit it today the snug got very toasty, but as Autumn approaches you can look forward to many an evening sipping a pint of Landlord by the fire.
