November update:
The kitchen was always going to be the hardest part of the restoration of The Hermit. With the exception of the extraction system, everything needed replacing, including the walls, floors, ceilings, drainage and electrics, not to mention the actual cooking equipment.
This challenge has been compounded by the global supply shortage. Everything from ovens to baking trays to taps have been delayed in shipping or are simply impossible to get hold of until 2022.
Nevertheless… we are pleased to announce that The Hermit kitchen will open on Wednesday 1st December, albeit in a limited capacity.
We are going to start at a steady pace, introducing incredible sandwiches, soups and small plates for weekday lunches. Then in the evenings and at weekends we are bringing back our legendary stone-baked pizzas from a brand new oven, alongside some delicious new sharing plates.
Our menu will evolve over time but we are keen to keep the informal food experience that has served The Hermit so well since its reopening. We don’t think there is anything nicer than sharing food and drink with your friends and family in a relaxed welcoming setting and that is what The Hermit will always be.
Since opening, we think that we have set a very high bar with the standard of our beer and we want our food to reach the same heights, but its inevitable that we won’t have got everything right first time. Please give us your feedback, both good and bad. A chat with the team, an email or even a phone call is so much more productive than an angry trip advisor review.
Finally, we want to thank you all for your patience and your support so far. The Hermit is a gem of a pub but in an out of the way location, so we recognise the extra effort that you have to put in to visit. Thank you again, and cheers.
